It is with deep sadness that we announce Paul David Eckinger, age 67, of St. Louis, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He is survived by his children, Stephanie (James Lewis), Jill (Nathan Kinstlinger), Paul (Julianna Zimmerman), and Christine (David Hynes) Eckinger, his sister Susan (Matthew) Lynch, and his grandchildren David, Dominic, and Andrew Hynes and Van, Evangeline, James, and Catherine Kinstlinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Julia Eckinger. Paul was a dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Paul grew up in Affton and attended Augustinian Academy for high school, where he competed in wrestling and track. He later attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Paul proudly served as a police officer in St. Louis City for 25 years and in St. Louis County for 20 years.

Paul never knew a stranger and will be remembered by many for his generosity and his sarcastic humor. He often could be found behind the bar at Paulie’s Place. He counted his annual golf trips with friends among his best memories. Paul enjoyed cooking, and those who knew him will miss his specialties, like chili or corned beef.

Paul loved deeply and we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
