Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born September 5, 1936. Beloved husband of Charleen M. Diers (nee Rumpf): dear father of Thomas, Michael, and David (Sharon). Wonderful grandfather of 6: Alexandria, Sydnie, Tanner, Grace, Andrew, and Faith, dear brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Gene grew up in St. Louis, MO. He served in the Army from 1956-1958. Gene and Char were married for 64 years. They enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states and multiple foreign countries. He was an avid trout fisherman and golfer, and lifetime serving member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Arnold MO.
Services: Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:30am at St John’s Lutheran Church, 3715 Jeffco Boulevard, Arnold, MO 63010. Visitation beginning at 9:00am at St. John’s.

Uncle Gene was a fabulous uncle, even from the long-distance to our family in Portland Oregon! He was fun-loving, warm and a kick to spend time with! He and my Aunt Charlene were great about coming to Oregon over the years, sometimes with their boys other times as a stop along the way of their many travel adventures. And we always made sure to see them when we were in St. Louis. My family loves their family so much and Uncle Gene will be sorely missed. Love, Suzanne Diers

Art and I were friends with Gene and Char since high school days. We double dated in those days. We were in each other’s weddings. We went on vacations together, and Art introduced Gene to fishing up in Canada. We had many good times together, and Gene will be missed. He was a wonderful person and loved the Lotd. And now he is in heaven with Him. My sympathies are with the family, and they are in my prayers.

You were both warm and gentle hosts to the St. Louis Deaconess Area Conference whenever we were brave enough to drive out to your home which seemed at the time to be “way out there.” Only God knows the severity of your pain.
