Born on “The Hill” on May 16, 1931 to the late Louis J. and Josephine (nee Galli) Cassani. Preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Doris (Eugene) O’Rourke, Louis J.( Mary) Cassani, Richard, Patricia and John (Peggy) Cassani.
Beloved husband of the late Marie P. Cassani (nee Dolci), loving father of Paula M. Cassani and Kathleen C. (Mark) Buckner; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Graduate of St. Louis University High School (Class of 1949). Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Germany where among his duties he played soccer for the Army. Returning to St. Louis, Tom graduated from St. Louis University and worked for the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Private services were held at J.B. National Cemetery. Contributions to The Alzheimer’s Association appreciated. Kutis Affton Service.
So sad to hear this news. I sent Tom a birthday card in May when he turned 90. Tom was a good friend and we worked for the same government agency. I haven’t seen him since he retired but we’d always send each other birthday cards and Christmas cards. So sad…
I’ve known Tom 45+ years, we worked at the same Federal agency. I’m sorry to hear this news. So sad….

Tom and I started in IRS the same time, 1963. My wife and I socialized with Tom and Marie a number of times and it was always fun. I’ll always remember one time together with another couple when at the end of the evening we decided to go to a near by park. We went to the child playground, are you starting to get the picture? There were a number of the small metal horses, each mounted on a spring. Everyone got on one and began rocking back and forth and laughing like little kids. It was said before< one of a kind. If you had no money and he had $1 he would give it to you if you asked him.
I also am saddened by Tom’s passing. He was truly a wonderful person. I worked for various times during my career and received more than I was ever able to deliver. He perpetuated my nik name in a spirit of close friendship and admiration. To say that I loved Tom is an understatement. He cared about his charges like no one else I have known. God has returned Tom to be with him in heaven.
Tom was my first manager in the IRS Large case division. He was instrumental in helping me begin my 33 year career. Thank you Tom. God Bless you.
I looked up to my Uncle brother Tom all my life. And I love him with all my heart. Even though he loves to tease me. I know that he still loves me. Thank you so much for everything that you do for me. And I will love you from here to the moon and back. That is why I love him so much. You are in my thoughts and prayers. And I’ll miss you so much. The one thing I will never forget is when he would arm wrestle me for a turkey leg. That is the one thing that I will miss the most. But in my heart I know that I will love you every single day of my entire life. Thank you for the good memories we have had together. You are the light of my life. And I will miss you my favorite Uncle in the world.
