Brettle, Frank J. III 73, Passed away suddenly on March 27, 2023. Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church. Dear son of the late Frank and Anna Brettle (nee Vanac). Beloved brother of MaryAnn Farrell, loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Frank was a long time parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. A 1968 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and retired from Washington University.
Services: Funeral mass at St. Wenceslaus Church 2018 Oregon Ave. 63118 on Monday April 24th at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church maintenance, Masses or the charity of your choice. Kutis City Service.
A close cousin and friend who I have known basically since we were infants being 1 yr 7 mos apart in age.
We spent much time together as kids, as teenagers and as both young & old adults.
Frank was very dedicated to St Wenceslaus Church and always donated his time to cleaning/vacuuming the church before Sunday services. In fact, this seemed to be his only hobby after he retired from working in the admissions Dept of Washington U. He loved to eat good food, esp Czech food be it at St John Nepomuk Church or the Czech National Hall off Kingshighway whenever there was a social event event after we got to be older. Before that point in time, our parents prepared, be it cooked or baked, the best homemade Czech food one could ask for while they were with us.. But, what he cherished the most was friends and friendship. He always reserved time for his friends & always remembered to send a Christmas card or a birthday card. We shared may good times together…he will always be missed having grown-up together along with many fond memories
My Uncle Frankie was also a friend to me. We talked on the phone for hours over the years.
We would send lottery scratch off cards to each other with birthday and Christmas cards
most of the time we wouldn’t win anything but we kept buying them
I couldn’t believe the beautiful handwriting he had, wish mine was half as good as his.
I will truly miss not being able to call him on my drive back and forth to visit my mom, his sister, in Illinois. I will always keep him in my prayers
