Beavers, Jonathan Calloway

Jonathan Calloway Beavers (‘Johnnie’) passed away, peacefully at home with his wife, on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the age of 65.

Beloved husband of JoAnn Beavers (nee Hare) for 20 years; dearest father to Brandyn Beavers and the late Jonathan Calloway Baker; ‘step-up daddy’ of Airaka Herrington; ‘Johnnie O’ of Erik Harris, Destiny Herrington; Theron Herrington, Fay Herrington; brother of Bronda Haynes (John) and Glenda Probasco (Ron); loving son of the late Evelyn Hogg Beavers and Grady Beavers; and a dear brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend of many.  

Johnnie was an entrepreneur throughout his life.  He started and ran a successful chain of waterbed stores in West Virginia and Kentucky in his early adult years.  Later, he pivoted to the transportation and warehousing industry, where again, he grew a prosperous company from the ground up, for over 20 years until he retired.  He was a mentor to many in the transportation industry, always willing to offer advice and assistance to those getting started. 

Because his work often took him away from home, he cherished time spent with his family.  When home, he took pleasure in the simple things.  He loved to work in the yard, tinker with tools, and eat breakfast with JoAnn while watching the news.  His late dog Jack would often follow him around, and Johnnie loved sitting his his recliner with Jack napping on his lap.  Growing up, his father served in the US Army, so they moved often – this fostering a passion for travel which he and JoAnn loved to do together, always bringing their faithful Boston terrier Jack along.  Some of their favorite trips were to London (England), an Alaskan cruise, South Padre Island, and an extended road trip throughout the American west and up the Pacific Coast Highway.  They created lasting memories and a loving life together.  

Johnnie loved his family deeply, and he was loved deeply in return.
