  Bayer, Erna E.

(nee Kastner) Peacefully departed on Saturday, November 15, 2015. Loving daughter of the late Louis and  Alfreida Kastner; beloved wife of the late Edward J. Bayer; dear mother of Sharon (Norman) Bayer-Berg, John E. and Richard L. (Sandra) Bayer; dear grandmother of Tina (James) Gardner, Christipher Berg, Tracie (Brett) Grimm, Anna (Shayne)  Nakamoto and Kimmy Bayer; dear great-grandmother of Hunter Berg, Ainsley, Johnathan Gardner, Leah and Jase Grimm, Natalie, Malia and  Sophia Nakamoto; dear sister of Louis (Marie) Kastner and the late Elfreida McClenning; our dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.

   Erna was born on March 7, 1932 and graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1951. She received a degree in cosmetology a year later. Erna married Edward J. Bayer on June 20, 1953. Ed and Erna enjoyed 40 years of wedded bliss until Ed’s sudden death in 1993.

   Erna was a 50 year member of Webster Groves Eastern Star, belonged to the Southside Detachment of Marine Corps League Women’s  Organization, the Open Door Church Choir and was a church board  member.

   Erna felt that her greatest achievement in life were her (3) children. To whom she devoted her life to. Her kindness, wisdom, sense of humor and bright smile will be missed by all who knew her. In her words “I am not leaving this world, but only continuing on a journey. I am with all of you, my children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. My love will always be with each and every one of you”.

Services: A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, November 22 from 1 p.m. until service time 2 p.m. at Webster Groves Masonic Lodge, 12 East Lockwood, Webster Groves, MO 63119. Memorials to American  Cancer Society or Shriners  Hospital appreciated. A service of KUTIS AFFTON Chapel.
