Spicer, Lt. Col. Gordon A.

80, of St. Charles, MO was Promoted to Glory on November 19, 2015.  Gordon A. Spicer was born October 23, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND to Amos Franklin Spicer and Fennetta Olive Spicer. Gordon entered The Salvation Army Training College in September of 1954 and was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer the following June. He married Arliss A. Lamont on October 24, 1957 in Brainerd, MN. Gordon and Arliss served together as officers in various appointments in The Salvation Army, retiring as Lt. Colonels and Divisional Leaders of the “Mighty” Midland Division in January, 2001 after 46 years of faithful service. In his retirement, Gordon was an active member of The Salvation Army Gateway Citadel Corps. Some of his greatest joys were singing, leading singing and preaching the Gospel of Christ. He was also a Rotarian, great neighbor and friend to many, young and old.

Lt. Colonel Spicer is survived by his wife, Arliss, of St. Charles, MO; son, Gordon (Lynn) Spicer, daughter,  Aleta (Jeffrey) Beachum; 5 grand-children Jamilee Spicer, Nina Joy  (Spicer) Beach, Catherine Beachum, Rebekah (Beachum) James and  Christian Beachum; sisters Joyce (Mike) Carlson, Darlene (John)  Stansbury, nieces, nephews and friends. He was also looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in December.

Lt. Colonel Spicer was preceded in death by his parents and two  brothers.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 6pm on Monday, November 23rd at The Salvation Army Gateway Citadel Corps 824 Union Rd., St. Louis, MO with visitation from 4PM until the time of the service.

Additional visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22nd 4PM-7PM at Kutis Funeral Home (South County Chapel) 5255  Lemay Ferry Rd, Mehlville, MO.
