thomas

Saturday, August 13, 2016.

Beloved wife of the late Del Thomas (on whose birthday she died); dear mother of Michael and Matthew Thomas; beloved mother-in-law of Svetlana and Elizabeth Thomas; dear grandmother (Baba Lee) of Andrew Delmos and Alexei Nicholas Thomas; dear gramma of Erica Mabel, Jessica Sophie, and Nathaniel Hugh Blackett-Thomas, and of Peter James Thomas; loving daughter of the late Mabel Button; dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Born August 27, 1930 in Corning, Arkansas, she moved with her mother to St. Louis when she was young.  Attending Central High School, she met and later married the late Del Thomas.  She worked for some time as an accounts clerk at Laclede Steel before starting and raising a family.  Over the years, she met many through work and volunteering, including at Lindbergh High School, St. Lucas UCC, the gift-wrap department at Crestwood Famous Barr, and as a receptionist at a dental office.  After her dear husband died, she remained always in motion, traveling with her mother to the Holy Lands in Israel with St. Lucas UCC, and frequently to England, Russia, Hong Kong, or New Zealand, to spend time with her sons, their families, and her grandchildren.  Little did she know at the time, but her energy, love and commitment to family would have global significance!
