February 23, 1918- Friday, July 8, 2016.

Known to everyone as Louise, Edith  Louise Larsen was born in Alton, IL, daughter of Anson and Irma Lampert. She graduated from Washington University in 1939 with a degree in Journalism. After a brief stint  with the Alton Telegraph, Louise married her college sweetheart,  David R. Larsen in 1941. They were married for 59 years until his death in 2000. During World War II, she followed her husband who was an Officer in the U.S. Army anti-aircraft artillery from one posting to another throughout the country.

Following the war Louise and Dave settled in St. Louis where they raised 3 children, David Jr., Edie and Nancy. They moved to Webster Groves in 1957 and were active in the community. Louise taught at St. Dominic Savio and St. Justin the Martyr Schools and served many years as the manager of the Christ Church Cathedral Bookstore in downtown St. Louis. In retirement they traveled extensively, but Louise found time to serve as an OASIS volunteer at Edgar Rd. School in Webster Groves and for more than 10 years, until the age of 92, an aerobics instructor at the Webster-Kirkwood YMCA. A prolific writer of non-fiction and short stories, she was published in numerous magazines.

She  is preceded in death by her husband, David R. Larsen, her sister Jean Lampert Sundheim and her parents. She is survived by her children, David (Lolo) Larsen Jr., Edie (Joe) Powers and Nancy (Spencer) Hunt; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a niece.

Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Tuesday, July 12, 12 noon. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Webster Groves Public Library, 301 E. Lockwood, Webster Groves, MO 63119. Visitation Monday, 4-8 p.m.
