Marie McCormick peacefully left this world to be with our Lord in paradise on November 1, 2022. She leaves behind a loving daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Michael Snodgrass, and 2 adoring grandsons, Nathaniel and Aaron Snodgrass.
Marie was born to Emily and Nicholas DeBueriis on September 2, 1939 in Salerno, Italy. At age 7, she immigrated to the United States with her mother, and attended schools in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in English, and later earned a Master’s degree in Education at the University of Missouri St. Louis. Marie taught English, Math and Science, as well as other subjects for nearly 50 years in several Catholic elementary schools in the St. Louis area.
Marie was a very giving person, always putting others ahead of herself. She was passionate about teaching, and particularly loved the challenges of middle school. She believed that “when you help a child today, you write the history of tomorrow.” Marie’s other passion was animals. She was never without a canine companion, and always did what she could for animals in need. Marie also loved music, dancing, and spending time with her family.
A private funeral will be held. Donations in her memory to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Humane Society of Missouri, or TTEF (Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation) are appreciated.
I taught school with your mom at St. Catherine of Alexandria. I was a new teacher and your mom was a seasoned veteran. We would carpool sometimes when our cars were in the shop. I always enjoyed her company and advice. Marie always talked so highly of you, Sheila. She was so proud of you! Wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

My sincere condolences to Shelia and the family. Mrs. McCormick was an outstanding educator and made a lasting impression on me a when I was a student at St. Catherine of Alexandria. I have some many fond memories of her and her classes! Shelia, I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time.
My prayers are with you and your family for your loss. Ms McCormick was my favorite grade school teacher back in the sixtys at St. Catherine of Alexandria. Similar hair style but golden in color and I just loved how she pronounced the number four in her Boston slang. God Bless Ms McCormick.

Truly sad. She was my 8th grade teacher at St Catherine’s (‘75-‘76). I had many influences in life, from friends to teachers to parents/family, religious clergy. She definitely was an influence. Condolences and prayers from me and my wife.
Marie started teaching me in September 2002 and stopped November 1st 2022. Her lessons will follow me throughout life. I’ll greatly miss yet never forget her voice, laugh, temper at the chalkboard, and her great guidance over the years. Dedicated, respected, and irreplaceable. I had Miss Buck/Miss McCormick bk at St Catherines for 7&8th grade I believe. I don’t remember a lot of my teachers, but I DO remember her. She was so tiny too lol So very sorry for your loss. Will keep your family in my prayers.
Sheila I know how proud your Mom was of you!I too had the honor of being one of her students! My mom volunteered in the office and they became friends and she was always telling my mom about you! She was truly an amazing woman I thought about her often this year, unfortunately I lost my mom in February and my life will never be the same! Mrs McCormack was by far one of my favorite teachers in grade school. She was my 8th grade teacher at St Catherine’s. I loved her tenacity and her way of making learning fun. Her Boston accent was so great! She was a joy and inspiration. Prayers to her family.
