Adlof, Richard “Rich” O.
Richard “Rich” O. Adlof passed away on Thursday June 23, 2022, at the age of 74, in Saint Louis, Missouri. A beloved husband to Deborah “Debbie” Adlof (nee Ingram) for 46 years. A proud father to Jonathan Adlof and Jessica Bachmann (nee Adlof). Proudly known as Pop-Pop to his grandson, Owen Bachmann. A devoted family man and a friend of many.
Rich was born in Vienna, Austria on December 14, 1947, to the late Otto and Emma Adlof. In pursuit of the American dream, they immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled their roots in Peoria, Illinois.
Rich received his baccalaureate degree at Wabash College in Indiana. He later earned a Master of Science degree in chemistry at Louisiana State University. During his academia, he was drafted by the US Army in 1970 to serve his country. He graduated from the U.S. Army Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Sergeant Adlof was assigned to the 3rd battalion 82nd field artillery regiment in Vietnam.
Rich was passionate and dedicated to his career as a research scientist at the United States Department of Agriculture (NCAUR) Lab in Peoria, Illinois. He was an active member of the American Oil Chemist Society. His years of dedicated research in lipid methodology proudly published. After devoting 40 years to his career, he retired at the age of 62.
Rich loved working in his garden. Often times found at his workbench tinkering on various projects. He was an active member and president of the Peoria Computer Club for many years. Known for his extremely dry sense of humor and his love for bad puns. Every year you could find him at his favorite place, Siesta Key, FL. He was his happiest sitting on the beach with his family watching the sunset over the ocean.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6th from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Both will be held at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123
Interment will follow after services on July 7th at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Our hearts are heavy with the news of Rich’s passing. There are so many memories for all the years of being together. Siesta Keys trips with all the sun set pictures Rich took and our food run to Captain Kirk. But our weekly card games played a big part of our friendship that turned us into a family no matter where we lived. Rich will be missed but he will remain in our hearts forever.
