ROBERT EARL RAKEY

Bob passed away at the SSM St. Louis University Hospital at the age of 91 on Saturday June 11 of cancer after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Vera Rakey, Sister Patricia Mitchell and his wife of many years Ethel Rakey. Survivors include his brother Donald Rakey, Sister-in-law Shirley Rakey, Brother-in-law Bill Mitchell, Nieces Jean Rakey and Cheryl Sees, Kristin Layton nephews Andrew Mitchell and Michael Rakey, and Grand Niece Elizabeth Rakey. Bob had many good friends, neighbors, fishing, and hunting buddies in the MVDHA, and special friend Edna Kersten.  All loved him and will miss his kindness, generosity and humor. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and St Louis University Most of his working career was in the finance department at the University from which he retired in 1996.

Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel on Friday July 15 from 2-7 p.m. Funeral on Saturday July 16 after visitation at 9a.m. Burial at nearby Sunset Cemetery at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Granite City Animal Protective Association or a charity of your choice.
