Michael Heigert, 83, of Imperial, MO., formerly of Staunton, IL. died at his home on Thursday, March 3, 2022. He was born on April 28, 1938, in Staunton, a son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Loksa) Heigert. On April 28, 1962, he married Sharron Dwyer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton. She survives.
Michael graduated from Staunton High School with the class of 1956. He enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1957 to 1961 as a radar maintenance person of jet fighters, first at Tyndall AFB in Florida, then at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. He retired from INDEECO (Industrial Engineering & Equipment Co.) where he was a Nuclear Project & Design Engineer/Draftsman. He was active in raising and showing pedigree dogs as owner, trainer and judge.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sharron; daughter, Nancy; granddaughter, Jessica; great-grandson, Andrew; brothers: Richard (Bev) Heigert of Arnold, Mo., Gerald (Mary) Heigert of Staunton, IL., sisters: Theresa Smith of Arnold, Mo., Patricia (Mike) Makuta of Mt. Olive; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott; and brothers: Lawrence “Larry” and Vincent Heigert.
Internment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
