Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy H. Sprenger (nee Haas) for over 65 years; dear father of Janet (John) Heller, Steven (Beth) Sprenger, Michael (Tena) Sprenger and Matthew (Catherine) Sprenger; loving grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 6; dear son of the late Edwin and Wilma Sprenger; dear brother of the late David (Barbara) Sprenger; our dearest uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Bob dedicated his life to his wife Dorothy and his family. For 65 years, Dorothy was the love of his life. He was most satisfied providing for her and their children. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for over 40 years as a structural steel draftsman where he could demonstrate his skill in math and science. He was an excellent handy man around the house, building a warm and inviting home, and passing along many techniques to his children that he had learned from his own father. So too did he pass along the value of family, setting a great example of caring for his own parents and grandparents.
Bob was a great bowler who rolled two perfect games. He shared his passion for bowling participating in leagues with his family. He also loved the competition of a good game of horse shoes, poker and golf with friends and family. He loved Cardinal baseball! He was never shy to tell you how he would manage the team, but relished World Series wins with family. Sports also connected him to his grandkids where he enjoyed seeing their events and attending their games. His high five at the end of a game, and words of encouragement were appreciated. He also showed love for his grandchildren in playful ways. A favorite was to steal Grandpa’s recliner as he would toss them out with a rambunctious laugh.
He was always very proud of his family, and wanted nothing but the best for them.
Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois, Wednesday, February 2, 9:30 a.m. to St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment at J.B. National Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 4-8 p.m.
Uncle Bob was a good Man! He was the only Dad I was ever really a little afraid of. If you were doing something wrong he had a pretty commanding voice – yet ever so loving. When I look at Uncle Bob now – I see he was a very goal oriented individual. He loved his Dorothy! and their children. Recently he shared that he worked hard to make sure all their needs were met in retirement. I believe he realized that goal! As Dorothy was failing in health he said he needed to stay healthy enough to be able to take care of her at home, as long as he could. He realized that goal! With really just waiting to see his Dorothy and be with her again….He realized his goal! Rest in Peace – you are an honorable man. I love you and will miss you. Mary
