Harold Edward Uthoff, son of Edward William and Margaret Louise née Strahl Uthoff, was born December 29, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was baptized 2 months later at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on So. Kingshighway and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1941, at Reen Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Louis.
He attended St. Louis public schools and graduated in 1945 from Cleveland High School. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army while stationed in Seoul, Korea. He afterwards attended St. Louis University from which he received a Juris Doctorate in 1954.
On June 30, 1951, he married Lois Roanna Clausen with whom he enjoyed 65 years of marriage until her passing on November 22, 2016. To this union were born William Edward, Robert Joseph, and Susan Carol Uthoff (she passed away on March 3, 1960).
Harold is survived by his children and their families, William (Anne) Uthoff and Robert (Patricia) Uthoff; the grandchildren, Katherine (Todd) Hotaling, Kristin (Nathaniel) Broughton, William (Megan) Uthoff, Robert “Rob” (Katie) Uthoff, Michael (Gisette) Uthoff, and Meghan Uthoff; the great-grandchildren, Henry, Jackson, Andrew, Gage, Remy, Thomas, Margot, Joel, Luke, Azalea and Llewelyn, together with other relatives and friends.
As a loving husband, father, grand, and great-grandfather, as well as a respected attorney, Harold especially will be remembered as a devout and conscientious Christian man. Together with eight other families, he and his wife, Lois, were involved in the founding of Reformation Lutheran Church, Affton in 1954. His membership continued there until an August, 2020 transfer to Peace Lutheran where his affiliation since has remained. While a communicant at Reformation, he served as a Sunday School teacher and in various Council positions including being President of the congregation for a time.
Harold practiced corporate law briefly with a firm in Clayton before accepting a position with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis where he served as Senior Vice President of Supervision and Regulation until his retirement at age 62 in 1989. He enjoyed good health until the advances of age affected his hearing and diminished his mobility, causing him to enter Assisted Living in July, 2021 at Friendship Village, where he had already resided with Lois since 2015.
On Christmas Day, Harold sustained a broken femur and on December 28, underwent orthopedic surgery at Mercy-South Medical Center. Afterwards, however, he did not rally, resulting in his departure there at 11:37pm on Monday, January 17, 2022. He attained the age of 94 years and 19 days.

Bill, Bob, and family; Our deepest condolences at the home-going of Harold. He was well loved by all at Reformation (young and old alike). Hal was an avid member of worship and bible class, always good at asking questions that would keep the pastor on his toes and searching the scriptures. His presence has been missed at Reformation these last few years of his diminishing mobility and transfer to Peace.
Now Hal has transferred to the Church Triumphant awaiting with us that blessed reunion and marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom which has no end. Bill, Bob and family, I have such precious childhood memories of your Father and our families throughout the years. He and your Mother were wonderful friends of my parents and my late brother Chris. Truly a nice guy both as my boss at the FRB and later at the Friendship Village where I got better acquainted with him . I had another friend there. He will be missed. Rosemary Hall
I was going through my desk and found a thank you card from 2017 that he sent to me after we met. I am sad to see he passed. He was a kind man.

I know this is many months after your dad’s passing. I did not know of his death or the circumstances of his injury & subsequent surgery. I remember your dad & mother because of their friendship with my family. My dad was Andy Doumouras. My sweet Aunt Georgia Doumouras passed away on May 15, 2021. She was 99 1/2 years old. She’s the last of my dad’s siblings. My sincere condolences to your families. What a legacy with all the children, grandchildren & great grandchildren!
