Services: Visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Monday, October 25, 4-8 p.m. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Tuesday, 1 p.m. (meeting at Sylvan Springs parking lot at Sheridan and Boundary Road at 12:45 p.m.). Mr. Desmond was a member of The Kirkwood Kiwanis Club. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Wounded Warriors appreciated.
It is with deep sorrow that I received the news of COL Desmond’s passing. I worked with the Colonel when I was stationed in St. Louis. He was a down to earth all around GREAT Guy! Please accept my sincerest condolences.
We were saddened when we heard of Ed’s passing but know he is in a better place now. Our hearts go out to the family we know so well. We will miss him. I just lost my brother so Phyllis and I know how you feel. God bless you all.
I am the Fitness Center Manager at the Webster Groves Fitness Center and was so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. Ed was a bright spot in my day. We said hello to each other every morning and had several conversations over the years. Each day I would say, “How are you doing Ed?” He replied, “Doing fine Steve, doing fine.” He was a beloved member of our fitness center community and will be greatly missed. I hope you are “doing fine” Ed. We’ll miss you!

Everyone here looked forward to seeing him come through the door. We were opposites when it came to telling of jokes-He would always tell me jokes (that he would try out on his wife first-haha) and would be so disappointed when I couldn’t remember them! We had some great laughs and I feel blessed to have had him in my life. I will miss my good friend Ed.
The news of Ed’s passing sadden us deeply. Our hearts go out to everyone who loved him. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and may the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead.
I had the pleasure of seeing Ed every few weeks at the Hair Saloon in Webster Groves. We talked about football. He told me stories of living in Chicago. We talked about traveling. Most of all, he talked about his family. He sure loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. You all made him proud. In our last interaction, he made it a point to tell me he enjoyed our time together “even though it’s hard to be friends with a Packer fan.” I’m so grateful for that one last laugh with Ed just a couple weeks ago. Every visit we had together would brighten my day. I’m sending my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. He clearly touched many lives. I feel lucky to have known him.
