passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the age of 80.
Loving husband of Linda (nee Morgan); dear dad of Lisa (Megan Petra) and Lea (Bob) Heintz; dear papa to Emily (Bryn) Sitzes and Jonathan Heintz; and dear great papa to Owen. Our dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend.
Bob was born in St. Louis to Alexander and Mary Riek, the third of their six children. He worked in his father’s Tom Boy store in Maplewood beginning at the age of 14. Bob met “the girl next door” and was married to Linda for 58 years. Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967 as an air policeman securing the Minuteman missiles in Minot, North Dakota. His career in the grocery business spanned more than 40 years, 35 of those with Schnucks. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, drawing, dancing, listening to music, bowling, shooting pool, playing cribbage and traveling.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Services: Visitation at St. Francis Xavier College Church on Wednesday, October 20 from 9:00am until funeral mass at 10:00am. Interment services at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Mr. Riek, A Husband, Father and Grandfather! He will live in our Hearts and Minds forever and his spirit will live for Eternity! We all need to remember Our loved ones and Cherish the Memories they leave us with! A Man who will be missed and remembered for ever by Many!

Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. Bob was such a wonderful person. He will be greatly missed.
My best memories of Uncle Bob are him humming music that was playing over the surround sound (usually 50s/60s music or a musical) while he was drawing or playing pool. He taught me how to color the right way (outline the black line with a color then color the middle in lighter). That love of art won me a few coloring contests as a kid and helped spur me to go to art school in college and I was always so happy to share my art with him. I also grew up with a great appreciation for music especially musical theater thanks to that humming.
While some who may not know Uncle Bob well may be surprised by this but I also remember how goofy he was. Between his Donald Duck voice and Woody the Woodpecker voice he could always make me laugh. Or when he would make me try his weird food concoctions like salami and jelly on crackers. Or when he would ask me if I wanted to play a really fun card game called 52 card pick up. He taught me how to do card tricks, play war, and play cribbage, even though that one took a while. He also did puzzles with me all the time, which is still one of my favorite things to do. And let me tell ya, that man hated to talk on the phone. He couldn’t get off the phone fast enough when I called their house. He also showed me what true unconditional love is in a marriage and provided an amazing example for Steve and I in our marriage.
All of these things will always be so special to me but the most special thing was having him share all of these same things with my kids. Edith would color something really good in the lines and she would immediately say we should show this to Uncle Bob. We all love him so much and are so happy to have shared our lives with him.
There was a time when it was good, and nothing good is ever truly lost.
It stays part of a person, becomes part of their character.

My Heart breaks to see this. Bob was such a great guy and I have so many warm memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with you Linda and family. I know how it hurts since I have lost a husband and Son. Love you.

He will truly be missed by Ed and JoAnn. Bob and Linda and us have had so much fun on bus tours and cruises. I will treasure these memories forever. We also have planned vacations on our own they all were such fun. Bob we love you and Aunt Linda so much.
