Professor Emeritus at Concordia Seminary St. Louis, entered eternal rest in Christ Tuesday June 8, 2021. Beloved husband for 58 years of Marlene Warneck (nee Kussmann); son of the late Rev. Walter and Selma Warneck; loving father of Richard and Stephen Warneck; dear brother of Doris (Rev. Ronald) Dommer and Dr. Walter (Janet) Warneck; dear uncle and cousin.
He served the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as a parish pastor, a professor pastoral theology and as author on the subject.
Services: The funeral service will be held at Church of the Reformation (7910 MacKenzie Rd. 63123), Saturday June 12, 11:00 AM. Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL, 10151 Gravois Friday June 11, 4:00-8:00 PM and Saturday 10-11 AM prior to the service (at church). Interment will take place at Concordia Cemetery, 4209 Bates, St. Louis. Memorials may be made to Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105.

Marlene and family, I just learned of Richard’s passing and send you my sincere condolences. It’s been many years since Richard and I spoke, the last being at a Synodical Convention. He was certainly a faithful servant of Christ. God give you His peace and comfort as you await the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting in the presence of Christ, our Lord.

Dear Mrs. Warneck, we all have good memories of you both from the time that you were a teacher and he was a beginning pastor at St. John’s, Ellisville. We thank God for you both and treasure our God’blessed encounters with you through the years. Mrs. Warneck – I just want to express my condolences for your loss. Pastor Warneck will always be “My Pastor” and remembered for the huge influence he had on my Christian walk. I look so forward to visiting with him again in heaven.

Marlene and family my deepest sympathy during this time for you. I have many good memories of you both at St. John’s special the time we had fun dinner here at our home. Pastor got his special piece of pie he really liked but with that course of the meal he got no utensils. So he tore a corner off his paper plate so he could enjoy his pie. He married us 56 years ago this past April, he was always friendly and smiling whenever I would see him. Like one time at a McDonald’s a few years ago when we had a good visit. This past December/2020 the Lord took home my Verlene, so I understand the feeling you have now without Pastor being there. I lean very much on the Lord’ Promise of being near always. Marlene — I just learned of Pastor’s passing today. Please accept my sincere sympathy for the loss. Many of us at St. John’s have a lot of good memories of your family’s time there with us. Always enjoyed talking with Pastor on Wednesday evenings when I did some volunteer typing in the office to help Mary. He married my husband and I almost 51 years ago and, following Dwight’s death in 1993, I do understand your loss. My sister, Betty Blank, passed away in April of 2020, and that, too, was a major loss with all that has transpired this past year. May God be with you and comfort you and your two sons (I just remember them as “little boys” playing in the yard behind the parsonage!).
