78, died peacefully at his home in St. Louis on February 16, 2016.

Rich attended Bishop DuBourg H.S., St. Benedict in Kansas, and SLU Law. After eight years as a private attorney, Rich joined  the legal dept. at Anheuser-Busch, where he also served as Assistant Secretary of the company and negotiated contracts for Cardinal Baseball.

The son of the late Elmer and  Helen (nee Schallert) Schwartz, Rich is survived by his wife, Joan (nee  Hanewinkel); children, Jeannie (Steve Toft) Schwartz, Peg (Jim Kocher) Schwartz, Rose (Scott Rice) Schwartz, Marie Schwartz, Rich  (Kelly Righton) Ives, Bill (Erin  Schaeffer) Schwartz, and Wally Schwartz; grandchildren, Jack  (Jessica) Probst, Justin (Diane) Toft, Aubrey (Noah) Fridley, Katie (Nick) Toft-Miller, Nathan (Kara) Toft, Lexi Ives, Malorie Rice, Aiden Ives, Jane Kocher, Celia and Adele Schaeffer, Grace Peach-Righton, and Elliott Righton-Ives; great-grandchildren, Avery, Greyson, Reese, and  Theodore; brothers, Robert (Carol), James (Lynn), and John; sister,  Nancy (Bob) Unger; sister-in-law, Kay; as well as extended family and friends who enriched his life and  benefited from his generous spirit.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Stan  Magoc; brothers, Ronald, and David; and sister-in-law, Ann.

A celebration of the life will be held for extended family at a later date.
