Tucek, Joseph “Joe” , 95, beloved husband for 67 years of Ann Tucek (nee Poposky), passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018.  Loving father of David (Anna), Rita (Jon) Henderson, Linda, and Joseph (Nancy).  Grandfather and great-grandfather to twelve, and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Method and Anna Tucek, brothers Johnnie (Lillian), Matt (Marie) and Chuck (Arvella), sister Rosemary (Joe) Poposky, and daughter Rita.

Joe was born January 28, 1923 in Swartz Creek, Michigan.  He later moved to St. Louis with his parents, and then to Slovak and Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  At the age of 14 Joe left home to work at the Benedictine Sisters’ Sacred Heart Academy in Lisle, Illinois.  He joined the U.S. Army Air Force in January 1943 and served as a radio operator in the Pacific until discharged in December 1945 with the rank of corporal.  Joe and Ann were married in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on September 15, 1951.   They moved to Aurora, Illinois and then to St. Louis where Joe worked as a machinist specialist for more than 35 years.  Joe was an avid organic gardener and grew vegetables, grapes and blackberries.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association – St. Louis Chapter, 9370 Olive Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63132.  Service: Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, 10:30 am Thursday to St. David Catholic Church, Arnold, MO for Mass at 11:00 am. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 pm.
