Vickie J. Fothen, 70, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on January 8, 2021, with her son and daughter by her side.
She was born to the late Richard Bayer and Bonnie Jo Clupper, September 15, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri. Vickie is survived by her brother Leslie (aka Dino) Capps (Cindy), sister-in-law Gina Bayer and the father of her children Rainer P Fothen, in Germany: daughter Carrie Barrett of O’fallon, Illinois, and Timothy (Kimberly) Fothen of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren: Tylor Fothen, Bryant Barrett, Hayden Barrett, Ava Fothen, Claire Fothen, Maggie Fothen, and Heidi Fothen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Jo Clupper (nee Downing), step-father Hosea Clupper, her father Richard Bayer, and her brother Richard Bayer Jr.
Vickie was a veteran. She served in the United States Army and the Marine Corps reserves. She also worked for the United States Postal Service for a combined total of 35 years as a government employee before retiring in 2010.
Vickie was an active member of the Center for Divine Love church in St. Louis city. She gave talks during the services, taught classes, and prepared the Brunch shared after Sunday morning services, among many other tasks that she performed with enthusiasm and zeal. She was close to many members of this church, and the loss of her absence will be felt deeply by many in this community.
There will be no viewing. Due to the current covid restrictions on gatherings, the family will be planning a memorial service at a later date to be determined.
