Gary stepped into the arms of Jesus July 12th, 2020 with his wife Linda by his side. They had just celebrated 50 years of marriage the day before. He was a pillar of strength and it showed in his determination to make it to that important milestone. He was a loving and faithful father to Angela, Carl (Amy), and Cory (Nicole). He was proud Opa to Brook, Sara, Zoe, and Ethan. Beloved brother to Betty Matheny (Née Queen), John Queen, Judy Roen (Née Britton), Terri Braddum (Née Taylor) and Steve Taylor. Loving Brother-in-law, Uncle, cousin and friend. Preceded in death by Father, William Ignacious Queen, Mother Muriele Lee Taylor (Née Henager), brother Fred Lee Queen and sister, Carol Fay McRoy (Née Cross).
Gary was a quiet and gentle soul with a great sense of humor. So silly at times. He often blessed his church congregation with a mellow tenor rendering of The Lord’s Prayer. He also served as a Royal Ranger leader in his church. He was faithful to his job for 38 years until retiring. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and joining his kids and grandkids on fun St. Louis outings. A favorite at home activity of his was playing rip roaring games of Canasta with his wife and kids. Family was very important to Gary and he spent much of his time researching genealogy and trying to track down long lost relatives.
Gary was so loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He put up a great fight and beat many odds before finally going home where his soul belongs.
Visitation at New Hope Fellowship Church, 5919 Antire Rd. High Ridge, MO on Saturday, July 18 from 1 pm until funeral service at 3 pm. Interment private at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Im glad you had the party where we got to visit one more time. I know he’s at peace and we’ll all see him again , when the time comes. Prayers for you all and strength . God Bless
My deepest sympathy for the family. I didn’t know Gary very well, it was neighbors with his son Cory. In the little bit of time that I knew him, I could tell he was a kind hearted soul. He was such a nice man to everyone and just enjoyed his sons dog Luna so much. My condolences to the family. Rest In Peace Gary.
I went through this 6 yrs ago with my dad and just 5 months ago with my mom. I thank God everyday I will get to see them again. That they aren’t dealing with the crazy we are right now and they are both together again. I still miss them and find myself wanting to share things with them. Angie I’m so glad you and the girls were able to have some great last moments and memories. Praying for peace for all of you.
God bless,
Linda Richmond
A great kind man that God let folks who knew him ,also could always see Christ love flow through him. In Heaven your Heart will hopefully shine down on those that somehow missed your wonderful Smile! Leave some shouting for me please!
Dear Cory, Linda & family. I know your loss is great & I am praying for Gods grace to be poured out on you in abundance. No one will ever be able to take his place but his love will live on in your hearts for the glory of God.
Gary was a gift from heaven to all while on planet earth. Now he will be a gift to all in glory in the presence of God and the saints and Angel’s. A true picture of meekness, gentleness, and never lost his child like heart. Gary is greatly loved and will be missed and we will see him again in glory
As always Leidy and I are with you in this difficult time. You are our second family for us and we will keep praying for all of you. God will give you strength, love and wisdom
We love you and our hearts are with you and your mom even from the distance.
He was one of my first Sunday school teachers I remember at Washington Park Assembly of God. RIP.
I have very fond and sweet memories of Gary and Linda. I remember their faithfulness to the Church at Washington Park Assembly and their tireless work for the bus ministry. I know they touched many lives and am confident Gary is now receiving his reward in Heaven. My love and prayers to Linda and family.
He was a dear friend , and we got to see him not too long before he passed away. Iwas their children’s baby sitter , while they were growing up. I loved them like my own. sometimes Linda would have to leave a little early , and so I would have to wake Gary up for work. May God be with you Linda until you see him again in heaven. Love you.
