Ferna May Russell, 76, of Dittmer, MO, passed away on March 25, 2023.
Ferna was born on July 4, 1946 to Carl and Cleda Colten in St. Louis, MO. Ferna graduated from Hancock High School in 1965.
Ferna was married to Thomas Russell III. Ferna and Tom went on to have 2 children, Robert Russell (Sandy Russell) and Karen Boyer (Moe Boyer).
Ferna was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Cleda Colten, her husband, Thomas Russell III, her daughter, Karen Boyer, and her brother, Russ Colten.
Ferna is survived by her son Robert Russell (Sandy Russell), her step-son, Jeffrey Russell (Emily Russell), her sister, Shirley Campbell (Bob Campbell), her grandchildren, Joshua Russell (Sarah Reece), Stacy Emerson (Derek Emerson), Brittany Boyer (Timmy Hendrickson), Brandon Boyer (Hannah McKee), Bryson Boyer (Jozie DeCoster), Kaitlyn Russell and Savannah Russell. Her great grandchildren, Colt Russell, Austin Reece, Aidyn Reece, Andersen Reece, Chloe Emerson, and Levi Emerson. Nieces and nephews.
Funeral at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road Friday, March 31, 10am. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8pm.

My heart is with the entire family❤️❤️. Ferna will be missed she was the Best woman that was brought into my life when I was very young girl. I felt like a daughter to her, she has taught me so much. To the Russell family: Our hearts ache for all of you. We have lost an angel on earth. Ferna was truly one from the first time we met her. She never met an enemy; always had kind words for each and every human being encountered. You were blessed having her as a family member and we were blessed having her as a friend. She truly was a great person. We are sorry that we can’t pay our respects to you, but Larry and I are both sick; have been under the weather for a week now and do not want to expose anyone. We hate the fact we cannot pay our respects to you and honor Ferna but don’t want to pass this on. Please know you all remain in our thoughts and prayers. I, as a friend, cannot believe Ferna has left earth. But I do know she will be watching all of us from high above. Your mother, grandmother, and great grandmother now has super angel wings. May God and Ferna watch over all of us and may you find comfort knowing she has now joined Tom and Karen in the heavens above!
Faye and I also have the same upper respiratory sickness as the McGuires. Sorry we can’t be there in person. Ferna was a very special friend and we will miss her more than words can express. Condolences to the family and we know Ferna is now receiving her reward for a life well lived.
