Betty Jo Brooks (nee Clements) of House Springs, Missouri was born July 28, 1937 in Elvins, Missouri to Albert and Edith (nee Duncan) Clements and was called home by our Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at the age of 82 years and 349 days.

She was cherished and will be forever missed by her family that she left behind.  Betty was the sweetheart of nearly 70 years of (Knighten) Dale Brooks and treasured Mom of Leanna (Brooks) Kelly (son-in-law Tom) and Nancy Brooks and sister of Ruth Hart (brother-in-law Bill).  She was the cherished Grandma of Jessica Kelly and Patrick Kelly.  She was also Grandma to our Bonus McCourt family, Tammy, Chris, Kyleigh, Cooper and Keira. She was also a loving Mee-Maw to our kitty, Baby.

Betty’s zest for life lessened at the sudden passing of her youngest Grandson, Michael Kelly in 2018.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bucky Burch.

Betty and Dale were married on December 12, 1954 in Hernando,  Mississippi and were privileged to celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2019.  After they married, they made their home in Elvins.  He worked in a grocery store , then carpentry and she was a seamstress at the TrimFoot Factory in Farmington until they moved to the big cities – first Meadow Drive in Otto and then to what has been home for over 60 years in House Springs.  In later years before Dale retired from being a carpenter, his work allowed them to travel, something they both enjoyed.  Cooking was possibly one of her greatest gifts she enjoyed and shared with her family.  When casino’s came to the Midwest and South, Betty Jo was one of their biggest fans, she loved to play the slots when her health allowed.

Her health began to leave its mark on her over the past few years.  Her heart, kidneys and lungs were a struggle, especially since her stroke in October of 2019.  She fought the idea of dialysis until a few months ago, and hated it with a passion.  We are truly grateful for her doctors, especially Dr. Hany Salama who has been by our sides for many years, Dr. Mataic, and sweet Sara, her Speech Therapist whom she loved and helped her better her speech.

Her wish was to go be with her Michael in Heaven, now her wish has come true.  Today our hearts are hollow and yearning for our Sweetie, Momma, Grandma & Sis, our love is yours forever.
