My Uncle Sam was the best. Some of my favorite memories of him were from Merced, California, on the almond ranch. Family gathers were epic, there! One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories is there. The rows of trees were astonishing, the first “three or four wheeler” I’ve ever seen, and a time to be with aunts, uncles and favorite cousins.
While living in Bakersfield, with gramma DiGiorgio, our favorite times were visits from Uncle Sam on the weekends. He would take us for long drives, favorite destination, or out to dinner in his blue van. He always brought such fun energy with him. Always smiling and had stories to share. I loved his laugh, especially.
Uncle Sam was a big support while I worked my way through Bakersfield Community College. He and Betty attended my graduation and bought my first pair of simple black pumps to wear on the night of the big event. He was always generous, loving, and kind to me. The world is a little less without this beautiful man. Your sister Connie, nephew Rob, and niece Annette will love you forever. Sleep in peace. Until we meet again….
So sorry for your loss. Hugs and prayers to you all.
I’ve only known Sam for a few years. He was one of the first people to welcome me and my husband when we first moved into the neighborhood. He always had a smile and was always very upbeat and positive. Always wanting a hug. I will miss him dearly. He was a good man and a great neighbor. I am very sorry to his family and to Lady Sam.

I met Mr. Digiorio when I worked at Dierbergs. He was one of my very favorite customers. He always knew how to make me feel wanted regardless of what I was going through in life at the time. He always told me he’d adopt me as one of his own grandchildren. Last couple years he hadnt been in as often. His friend Sam would come in when she could and ask for me. She’d tell me Mr.. Digiorgio said Hi and he missed me.. Wish I could have seen him one last time. This one hurts. If only I could have told him what a difference he made in my life. Until we meet again. Rest in peace.
